January• Jan 1st: Public holiday.
February• Puerto Escondido Carnival (Feb-March). Several events are held during the carnival, including a parade, a night-time ship parade, costume contest, popular dances and extra activities.
September• Central Surf longboard contest. A tournament with International and local participants, held on the beaches of Puerto Escondido.
November• Coastal Dance Festival. takes place prior to the November festivities in Puerto Escondido, with typical Coastal Region traditions, represented by native folklore groups. • November Festivities. A pageant, to choose Miss Puerto Escondido, is organized. Once chosen, the fortunate girl will declare the festivities officially open. These festivities continue with the celebration of a popular evening festival, held on the Perez Gasga tourist trail. Offering all types of shows, as culinary, sporting, cultural etc. • International Surfing Tournament. Lasts for three days and includes competitors from the region and foreigners. • Deep sea fishing contest. Taking place on the bays of Puerto Escondido as a complementary event of the festivities.
December• 16-24 Dec. Las Posadas. Each night the faithful re-enact Joseph and Mary's search for posada (shelter) on their journey to Belen. For the less devout, it's an excuse for a party. Many hotels and restaurants hold their own posada festivities.
